Overview

The Program Manager, Clinical Quality Improvement supports the day-to-day operations of the ACOG, Voluntary Review of Quality Care (VRQC) program focusing on clinical quality and safety in women’s health. Responsible to grow and manage the quality management program in a multi-faceted complex environment to facilitate process improvement and departmental efficiencies and effectiveness. A comprehensive understanding of evidence-based strategies and performance improvement methodologies that drive excellence in health care organizations Responsible for program logistics and individual site reviews. Manage report writing and development; coordinates program evaluation and improvement; and develops initiatives to promote program growth. Collaborate with management regarding matters of significance to the organization.

This position is considered hybrid and will be expected to be in the DC office a minimum of 2x a week.

Responsibilities

• Advise and offer clinical expertise to manage the implementation of quality and process improvements to systematically and consistently integrate relevant clinical data.

• Create, manage and performs monthly and/or quarterly presentations about the program and impacts.

• Conduct site visits assess facilities through tours, staff interviews, and review of medical records.

• Advise and provide clinical insight to support evaluations and offer evidence-based recommendations using ACOG guidelines and provide reports and comprehensive assessments with findings, actionable recommendations, and ACOG resources.
• Advise and provide professional support including execution of business agreements, visit materials, and data between legal counsel, hospital staff, other ACOG staff, and reviewers; assembling review team and overseeing site visit planning; maintaining an up-to-date directory of reviewers.
• Oversee and provide visit coordination, support to multidisciplinary review team, and using clinical expertise, draft the facility report for each review. Review details before, during, and after site visits; oversee site reviewer consultants; attends site visits, either remotely or in person.
• Manage full development of site review report, address and monitor incorporation of comments received from department director, senior director, and reviewers prior to submission of final report to the hospital.
• Oversee, update and maintain program materials and databases, including site visit forms, reference manual, chart review worksheets, and training materials.
• Identify and include quality and patient safety initiatives in review summaries; offer suggested interventions, data metrics and action plans for organizations to implement to improve the quality of care delivered.
• Create and manage system-level processes for managing large-scale review processes, including a system report and exit conference highlighting important recommendations and areas of opportunity for improvement.
• Develop and manage meeting agendas and materials with department director; compile agenda books, including research of relevant issues and provide materials as needed; prepare program activity reports of year-to-date site visits; prepare minutes; implement committee decisions.
• Integrate new reviewers into VRQC as needed; plan and implement training activities; design and monitor reviewers’ evaluation systems; and coordinate reappraisal per schedule or as appropriate.
• Maintain working knowledge of the ACOG’s resources and guidelines and update files with new resources as needed with clinical input and supervision from the department leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in nursing or health-related field, clinical and quality improvement experience required. Masters preferred.
• Active clinical healthcare license required, RN preferred.
• 5 years of experience in obstetrical and gynecological care or broad understanding of issues regarding maternal child health clinical care.
• Understanding of quality improvement processes, project management experience preferred.
• Ability to travel, must be able to work flexed time over review periods, traveling at times or attending remotely. Weekend work hours and/or travel that may last overnight and/or for several days.
• CPHQ, PMP, or RNC-OBC certifications preferred.
• Must be a team player and have a high sense of urgency and the ability to pivot as priorities are redirected.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to exercise independent judgment, prioritize and implement multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners. Ability to work with diverse teams.
• Strong organization skills and close attention to detail and deadlines.
• Ability to set priorities and manage completion of tasks with limited supervision.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with copyediting and proofreading experience.
• Problem solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Strong, working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher).

Compensation

The base salary for this position is $93,000 to $103,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, ACOG offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes the perks outlined below.
