    American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women’s health care in Washington, DC, is currently seeking a Content Editor who is passionate about writing and editing content, ensuring every piece of communication—whether it’s an email, a print ad, or a press release—is written in an exciting and engaging way. 


    • Develop and oversee governance, best practices, and voice for member content and messaging to ensure effective and consistent organization-wide messaging with members.
    • Establish workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and re-purposing content developed by other departments.
    • Manage the member communications editorial calendar.
    • Maintain department’s editorial style guide, serving as a resource for the organization on grammar, style and related editorial topics.
    • Lead the creation and distribution of all ACOG e-newsletters, including monthly member newsletter and chapter e-newsletters.
    • Set up metrics and track progress using qualitative and quantitative data on content by measuring engagement, leads, sales, conversions, and customer advocacy, etc.
    • Directly develop and/or oversee the development of compelling, brand-based content such as website information, articles, emails, presentations, videos, blog posts and social media posts.
    • Edit and proof all ACOG communications including emails, e-newsletters, and other marketing materials like print optimizing for ACOG’s voice, tone, and search engine ranking, and ensuring proper grammar and spelling
    • Collaborate with designers, product marketing and internal stakeholders to repurpose ACOG content into fun and engaging blogs, social media posts, and more that promote key messaging and attract visitors to our website.
    • Participate in campaign planning collaboratively with team members to identify content asset opportunities, informational gaps and create a content plan.
    • Stay up to date on the best content marketing trends (and tell us which ones to avoid), ensuring our content is always engaging and effective.
    • Manage contractors and external vendors like copyeditors and outside freelance content editors.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field
    • Minimum of two to three years of experience that includes development, editing and production of digital communications including, including emails, e-newsletters, blogs, web content and more.
    • Must have excellent writing and editing skills, verbal communication skills, coordination and project management abilities, ability to handle multiple assignments and tasks, and be detail oriented.
    • Experience with SEO, social media, email and digital marketing practices.
    • Demonstrated ability to fact-check and proofread for accuracy in spelling, grammar and format.
    • Must be able to work effectively and harmoniously with staff at all levels within the organization as well as association physician leaders.
    • Experience with a content management system such as SiteCore and an email management system such as Magnet Mail preferred.
    • Experience with non-profit associations, with experience and/or passion for women’s health highly desirable.
    • Occasional travel may be required.
