The College is currently seeking a Copyright Permissons Assistant to provide administrative and production support for permissions and copyright acquisitions as well as Publications department daily operations per established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Respond in writing to all requests for permission to borrow materials under copyright, stipulating terms and language, researching sources and copyright issues, and enforcing ACOG policy for use of borrowed materials; monitor compliance with terms, process and log revenue, and maintain log of active agreements; register publications with U.S. Copyright Office and process payments with sample
  • Implement and enforce policy with regard to payment for permission use including invoicing, tracking, and processing of payments
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Director and senior level departmental staff
  • Manage permission and information inquiries from publication@acog.org; Distribute faxes and process incoming mail; Procure and replenish departmental supplies, and maintain departmental calendar. Process check requests, maintain financial records of incoming and outgoing expenditures, code and scan invoices, update publications expense summary, and reconcile project expense accounts
  • Assist with production tasks (eg, preparing hyperlinks for various series documents, books, and other projects as necessary)
  • Serve as backup in the absence of the Production Coordinator and assume other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of permissions experience is required; familiarity with copyright issues, proofreading, document linking, and scheduling. Knowledge of publication preparation for print and electronic publishing
  • Bachelors degree in Education, Communication, or English preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in a Macintosh desktop publishing environment required (Creative Suite—InDesign), Excel, Powerpoint, and strong word processing skills. Familiarity with internet research and web protocols
  • Ability to work independently; detail oriented, and well organized
